Hometown Buzz Our-Hometown Adopts Drupal as its Content Management System for All Newspaper Websites Our-Hometown has spent the last several months transitioning all of our customers to Drupal, a new, state of the art, open source content management system. All current and future customers now have access to the following features and improvements at no extra cost: - all administrative functions are integrated directly into the newspaper website, meaning there is no separate administration website to log into and editing a story is as simple as going to the actual story on your site and clicking "Edit" - node-based content management means that stories and ads can be easily moved to other categories without having to worry about folders and filenames - for newspapers offering the PDF of the Print Edition, readers can now flip through the virtual version of the print edition with our new PDF Flip feature - Reader Commenting is now available at no cost for all customers, with a variety of moderation options - Drupal's modular structure means that new features can be designed and released at a much faster pace Our-Hometown is pleased to offer the only Drupal-based system for newspapers that is easy to install and use, and complete in terms of features and support. Please visit our clientele page to see Drupal in action! The Derrick's Pay Wall a Success One of our newest customers, The Derrick, has been featured in Editor & Publisher as an example that pay walls in the community newspaper business can be a success. “The [week after restricting our website to online subscribers only] we had already received enough subscribers and subscription revenue to pay for one year of hosting for Our-Hometown,” says publisher Ned Cowart in the article. Click here to read the whole story. Learn more about pay walls and whether they're right for your site by contacting our customer service department at 315-294-6932 or ops@our-hometown.com.
